Dr Richard Nahas, MD ~speaker International Kinesiology Conference 2015
Dr. Richard Nahas
Pain Physician / Clinic Founder
The Seekers Centre was established by Dr. Richard Nahas, an experienced physician, teacher and advocate who is committed to creating a forward shift in healthcare by demonstrating the benefits of integrative medicine.
Dr. Nahas was born and raised in Ottawa.
He studied biochemistry at the University of Ottawa before attending the University of Toronto, where he obtained his medical degree in 1998.
His early professional interest was in global health. This led to short-term medical missions in the Middle East, Africa and Central America.
After completing a residency program in family medicine, Dr. Nahas spent several years as an ER physician, working in remote rural outposts and academic teaching hospitals across Canada.
It was during the SARS outbreak of 2003, while treating people with the disease, that he became impressed with the importance of treating illness by helping the body heal itself.
He then spent two years on a self-directed sabbatical, backpacking across 30 countries. He has worked with shamans, plant healers, gurus and traditional doctors, and met with dozens of healers from around the world.
With a renewed calling to medicine and healing, he returned to Ottawa and established the Seekers Centre.
He teaches medical students about alternative medicine, and speaks and writes to patients and doctors about integrative healthcare. He treats patients using a method of identifying and treating hidden blockages to unleash the innate healing power of the body that combines principles of acupuncture, osteopathy, homeopathy and a wide range of bioenergetic approaches.
He enjoys reading, music, movies and his bicycle.
“Practicing medicine this way has rekindled my passion for healing.”
